01

General Concept

The Kampfstube Draft League combines competitive Pokémon battles with its own draft system. During a live draft, each Trainer builds an individual Pokémon roster that will be used throughout the entire Season.

In addition to the regular League matches, the Kill Ranking and Prediction Game provide two additional Season competitions.

02

Time, Participation & Fair Play

Participating in a Draft League requires a certain amount of time and availability over several weeks.

We understand that personal or professional commitments take priority and unexpected situations can occur. However, participants should generally be able to play their matches within the scheduled Match Weeks and reliably coordinate with their opponents.

Respectful behavior is mandatory. Unsportsmanlike conduct, intentional rule violations, ghosting during matches, insults or deliberately exploiting loopholes may result in sanctions by League staff.

Depending on the severity, sanctions may include warnings, point deductions, match losses or removal from the League.

03

Requirements

  • Pokémon Champions
  • active Nintendo Switch Online membership
  • access to the Kampfstube Discord

Recording or streaming matches is optional.

04

League Format

A Division consists of up to 10 Trainers.

With a full Division, the regular Season consists of 9 Match Weeks, with every Trainer playing every other Trainer in their Division once.

Win

3League Points

Loss

0League Points

Each Match Week runs from Monday through Sunday. Both Trainers are responsible for scheduling and completing their match within this period.

05

Standings & Tiebreakers

If multiple Trainers have the same number of points, standings are determined in the following order:

  1. League Points
  2. Kill Differential – Kills scored minus Kills conceded
  3. Total Kills
  4. Head-to-Head Result
  5. Highest individual Kill total of a Pokémon
  6. Tiebreak Match

Each criterion is only used if the previous criterion does not determine the ranking.

Bonus points from the Kill Ranking and Prediction Game are awarded after all regular Match Weeks have been completed. The final standings are calculated afterwards.

06

Promotion & Relegation

If the Kampfstube Draft League consists of multiple Divisions, the following system applies between two consecutive Divisions:

Higher Division

10th Place: directly relegated

9th Place: relegation playoff

Lower Division

1st Place: directly promoted

2nd Place: promotion playoff

The playoff determines the remaining position in the higher Division. If additional Divisions are introduced, the same system applies between the respective Divisions.

DRAFT

Live Draft, Tier System & Rosters

07

Live-Draft

Before the Season begins, each Division holds a Live Draft.

The draft order is determined randomly and published 24 hours before the Live Draft begins.

The published order is binding. Each Trainer drafts a total of 11 Pokémon.

Picks should be made without unnecessary delays. There is generally no fixed time limit for individual picks.

If a pick causes an unreasonable delay, League staff may impose an appropriate decision deadline.

08

Draft Tiers

The eligible Pokémon pool is divided into several Tiers before the Draft.

Mega Tier 1
Mega Tier 2
S-Tier
A-Tier
B-Tier
C-Tier
Total11

Mega Tier 1 contains the strongest and most influential Mega Pokémon in the format.

Mega Tier 2 contains the remaining Mega Pokémon eligible for the Draft League.

The complete Tier List will be published before the Live Draft.

09

Free Tier Selection

Free Tier Selection on Draft Day

Trainers are not required to draft their Tier slots in a predetermined order.

The only requirement is that the complete 11-Pokémon roster follows the required Tier distribution when the Draft is finished.

10

Exclusive Picks

Once a Pokémon has been drafted, it is no longer available to any other Trainer within the same Division.

Each Pokémon can therefore only be drafted once per Division.

Different Divisions use independent draft pools. A Pokémon drafted in one Division remains available in all other Divisions.

11

Draft Order

The KDL uses a rotating Snake Draft system.

Draft positions change throughout the individual Draft Rounds. This prevents a Trainer from having the same early or late position throughout the entire Draft.

The complete order for all Draft Rounds will be provided by League staff and will remain visible to all participants during the Live Draft.

12

Trade Window

48h Trade Window

Immediately after the Live Draft ends, a one-time 48-hour Trade Window opens.

Free Agent Change

A drafted Pokémon may be replaced with an available Pokémon from the same Tier.

Player Trade

Trainers within the same Division may directly trade Pokémon with each other. Both rosters must continue to meet the required Tier distribution.

All changes must be reported to League staff within the Trade Window. Once the 48-hour period expires, all Draft rosters are locked for the Season.

MATCHES

Match Rules & Organisation

13

Match Rules

Season 1 of the Kampfstube Draft League is played in Pokémon Champions.

  • Doubles
  • 4 vs. 4
  • Best of 3
  • Closed Team Sheet
  • Item Clause
  • Species Clause
  • Endless Battle Clause

The Regulation used for Season 1 will be officially announced before the Season begins.

14

Match Period

A regular Match Week runs from Monday through Sunday.

Both Trainers are responsible for finding a suitable time and completing their match within the respective Match Week.

Scheduling may take place through the designated League channels or privately.

15

Late Arrival & No-Shows

Both Trainers should be ready to play at the agreed match time.

If a Trainer has not appeared 10 minutes after the agreed time and does not respond to attempts to contact them, Game 1 may be awarded to their opponent.

After another 10 minutes, the entire set may be awarded to the present Trainer.

League staff will make the final decision in unclear situations.

16

Unplayed Matches

If a match is not completed within the scheduled Match Week due to the fault of one Trainer, the match may be recorded as a Loss for that Trainer.

If both Trainers are equally responsible for the match not being played, the match may be recorded as a double loss with 0 points for both Trainers.

League staff will make the final decision based on the available information.

17

Disconnects & Technical Issues

In the event of a disconnect or another significant technical issue, League staff will determine whether the Game should be replayed, the previous game state should be reconstructed, the existing result can be counted, or another fair solution is required.

Intentionally causing a disconnect is considered a rule violation.

18

Official Game Result

The result displayed by Pokémon Champions at the end of a Game is generally considered the official result.

A different ruling may only be made by League staff in cases involving technical problems or rule violations.

BONUS COMPETITIONS

Kill Ranking & Prediction Game

19

Kill Ranking

+2

1st Place Kill Ranking

League Points

A Kill List for all Pokémon used during the regular Season will be maintained.

An individual Kill is awarded to a Pokémon when it directly knocks out an opposing Pokémon with one of its own attacks.

KOs caused exclusively by indirect damage such as weather, poison or burn do not award an individual Kill to a Pokémon.

If an attack knocks out the opponent and the attacking Pokémon subsequently faints from recoil, the Kill is still awarded.

If multiple Pokémon have the same number of Kills, the Pokémon that achieved the total in fewer Games ranks higher. If they remain completely tied, the bonus is decided by a random draw.

20

Prediction Game

+1

1st Place Prediction Game

League Point

Throughout the Season, participants may predict the winners of the matches played during each Match Week.

One point toward the separate Prediction Game standings is awarded for every correctly predicted match winner.

Predictions must be submitted before the deadline announced by League staff. Predictions cannot be changed or submitted after the deadline.

If multiple participants are tied for 1st Place, a Prediction Tiebreak Round will be held between the tied participants. If the result is tied again, another Tiebreak Round will be held.

21

Awarding Bonus Points

Maximum +3 Points per Trainer

Kill Ranking: up to +2 points

Prediction Game: up to +1 point

Bonus points are not added to the standings during the regular Season.

All regular Match Weeks are completed first. Only afterwards are the bonus points awarded and the final standings calculated.

These final standings determine the Champion, promotion, playoffs and relegation.

22

Loopholes & Staff Decisions

Not every possible situation can be fully covered by a written ruleset.

Deliberately exploiting an obvious loophole against the intended spirit of the competition is not permitted.

If a situation is not clearly covered by these rules, League staff will make the final decision with the goal of providing the fairest possible solution.

23

Prizes

The Kampfstube Draft League begins with Season 1.

Potential prizes or additional awards will be announced separately.

These rules apply to Kampfstube Draft League – Season 1. Any changes or additions will be announced exclusively by League staff.
